VI Peel Q & A

What is the VI Peel?

The Vi Peel is a gentle yet powerful medical-grade chemical for the treatment of acne and acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, age and sun spots, hyperpigmentation, melasma, rosacea, enlarged pores, oil balancing, and overall skin health.  The VI peel is suitable for a variety of skin types and conditions. It is also safe for the body.

Benefits:

  • Evens out skin tone
  • Helps to lift melasma and hyperpigmentation
  • Improves acne
  • Refines and improves fine lines
  • Stimulates collagen

Is there downtime for the VI Peel?

The VI peel appointment is 30 minutes. The whole peel process takes approximately 7 days. The first 2 days your skin will feel tight and will have a “tan” or bronzed look or could be pink, blotchy and shiny. Days 3-5 your skin should start the peeling process where you will see sloughing typically around the mouth area, forehead and neck. Days 6-7 the peeling will start to subside and new skin will be seen. One week after peeling is complete you can resume your daily skincare regime.

How often can I have a VI Peel?

If a series is recommended, the VI Peel is suitable to receive every 4-6 weeks as directed by your Practitioner.

How much will I peel?

The amount of peeling will vary with each client. Some clients will peel more than others. If you have minimal peeling the peel is still effective and treating the skin on a cellular level.

How to prepare for the peel?

You can continue to use your regular skincare program unless you are on products with high levels of Retinols, AHA’s, Vitamin A and Hydroquinone. We ask you to stop usage 1 week before your peel. We suggest that you avoid any laser hair removal, waxing, electrolysis or depilatory creams a week before the peel.

What do you do post peel?

There will be take-home instructions and products for you to use. Your Aesthetician will explain all the steps for your home care routine. You must follow the post-peel instructions. Wear sunscreen and a hat when outdoors, avoid hot water (cool only), avoid exercise for 3-4 days and do not peel or pick your skin. Increase your water intake. You can apply makeup one day after the peel with clean brushes or disposable applicators.
